Dave Lee Travis to face retrial on two sexual offence charges
By Andy Malt | Published on Tuesday 25 February 2014
Following his acquittal on twelve sexual offence charges earlier this month, it was announced yesterday that Dave Lee Travis will face a retrial on two others. The allegations are of an indecent assault in 1990 and a sexual assault in 2008.
Travis, real name David Griffin, was found not guilty of the twelve other indecent assault charges, but the jury in that original court case were unable to reach a verdict on the final two, for which he will now face a new trial.
Speaking outside Southwark Crown Court yesterday, Travis said: “All I can say is that this whole thing started when I was 67 and I just hope it’s going to end by the time I am 80”.
A date for the trial, which is expected to last two weeks, has not yet been set. Travis has been bailed until 28 Mar.
