And Finally Artist News Gigs & Festivals
Beyonce might play Glastonbury. But so might a lot of people
By CMU Editorial | Published on Thursday 14 October 2010
This rumour is going to keep getting trotted out each year until either a) it actually happens, or b) everyone forgets that Jay-Z once headlined Glastonbury. Assuming the latter won’t happen for a very long time, let’s make option a happen, shall we? So, if you’re reading this Beyonce, would you please get on the phone to Michael Eavis and book yourself in for next year’s Glastonbury. All the headline slots are gone, but I’m sure he could give you 4pm on the Avalon stage on Sunday?
Anyway, yes, just like they did ahead of this year’s festival, unnamed sources are claiming that Beyonce is going to perform at Glastonbury next year. Because her husband played it once, you see? So, it’s an obvious link. One of those sources told Daily Star this week: “After all the furore over Jay-Z playing Glasto last year, it went off brilliantly and he had a wonderful time. Beyonce was, of course, in the wings soaking up the atmosphere and told everyone how happy she was at Worthy Farm. Getting her to perform in her own right seems the ideal next step”.
Beyonce is currently working on a new album so may well be touring next summer. But then again, Jay-Z played Glastonbury in 2008, and not “last year”, which makes me think that quote is exactly the same one everyone used this time last year.
