City Showcase confirms ‘Finding The Future’ seminars
By Aly Barchi | Published on Wednesday 13 August 2014
City Showcase, the new talent programme perhaps best known for its central London festivals, is to host ‘Finding The Future’, a series of conference-style debates, presentations and even live ‘sessions’ taking place on 13-15 Nov at the Regent Street Apple Store.
The idea with the event is to give aspiring artists and industry types a chance to trade ideas on A&R, songwriting, marketing, brand partnerships and generally ‘doing it DIY’, both with each other and with an expert panel of speakers, not least PRS For Music Chair Guy Fletcher, ASCAP’s Sean Devine, Band2Market’s Matt Dixon, and CMU Business Editor Chris Cooke.
That lot are chairing the various talks, with RCA’s Colin Barlow, Fierce Panda boss Simon Williams, 4AD Creative Director Ed Horrox, Island Records man Alex Boateng, Melvin Benn of Festival Republic and Dawbell press boss Richard Dawes all appearing as panellists.
‘Finding The Future’ kicks off at 3pm each day, with “heavily tipped” new acts set to play live between 8-8.30pm.
