Single Review: Imogen Heap – First Train Home (Epic Records)
By CMU Editorial | Published on Friday 20 November 2009
Imogen Heap’s voice absolutely unmistakable. As is he clever take on pop, with it’s zips and lilts and melodies that have this uncanny ability to raise goosebumpsin the warmest of weathers.
‘First Train Home’, the first single to be taken off of new album ‘Ellipse’, is classic Imogen, and is stylish, graceful pop at its very best. Written to reflect the feelings of returning home from a party that just wasn’t her cupof tea, ‘First Train Home’ is tied together with near-faultless melodies, and has echoes of Imogen’s early work with Frou Frou, like ‘Let Go’ and ‘Only Got One’ – basically the same brandof timeless pop that she’s famous for.
