Single Review: Metronomy – A Thing For Me (EMI/Mute)
By CMU Editorial | Published on Monday 5 January 2009
‘A Thing For Me’ is Devon-based electropoppers Metronomy’s fifth release from sophomore LP ‘Nights Out’, and is a cracking slice of midnight neon pop gone dirty. Angular and rough-around-the-edges, the track is a lovelorn ode that speaks to all of those who have been out on a Friday night and have fallen forehead-over-ankles for a complete but beautiful stranger. The single includes a generous handful of impressive remixes by the likes of Fontan, Sinden, Breakbot and Nightmoves – Fontän’s offering is in particular dance-till-you-drop worthy. A little bit Late Of The Pier, a little bit Clor, this tune has indie dancefloor anthem written all over it. TW
