Tidal hits one million user milestone, announces celeb-filled live show
By Andy Malt | Published on Thursday 1 October 2015
Tidal is telling everyone that it now has one million users. That’s up from 530,000 the day Jay-Z paid $56 million for it. Hurrah! In celebration of this milestone, the company is blowing any money it might have made in the last nine months on a big live concert.
Under the snappy title TIDAL X: 1020, the show will feature performances from artists like Beyoncs, Jay-Z, Prince, Usher, Nicki Minaj, Lil Wayne, and TI. They’ll not be just running through a few hits on their own though. The show will feature “collaborations on specially chosen songs to promote the message of unity through music”. Nice.
All profits from the show will be donated to charity, with Tidal set to match total revenues made on ticket sales during a pre-sale period. Does that mean I shouldn’t mock this event? Well, we have until 20 Oct to decide, when it will take place at the Barclays Center in New York.
