Performers from David Bowie’s Blackstar reunite for new album
By Andy Malt | Published on Monday 1 August 2016
Members of the band who performed on David Bowie’s last album ‘Blackstar’ have reunited on a new album by saxophonist Donny McCaslin, dedicated to the late musician.
McCaslin has worked with bassist Tim Lefebvre, drummer Mark Guiliana and pianist Jason Lindner, who all played on ‘Blackstar’, plus guitarist Nate Wood. Titled ‘Beyond Now’, the album features a number of original tracks written by McCaslin, as well as covers of songs by The Chainsmokers, Mutemath, Deadmau5 and Bowie himself.
“David Bowie was a visionary artist whose generosity, creative spirit, and fearlessness will stay with me the rest of my days”, says McCaslin. “‘Beyond Now’ is dedicated to him and to all who loved him”.
