BalconyTV announces compilation series
By Andy Malt | Published on Thursday 11 August 2016
BalconyTV, the YouTube channel that films bands playing live sessions on balconies, has formed its own record label, BalconyTV Records. “Is it going to release records of bands playing on balconies?” you may joke. But you would be foolish to do so, because that is exactly what it’s going to do. It will be releasing compilations of the best tracks from its archive of sessions.
With the backing of The Orchard, which acquired the channel in 2014, BalconyTV Records will launch a new series of compilations called ‘Live From The Outside’, each of which will focus on a specific genre. The first edition, which focuses on indie rock, is out now. The second and third instalments are to follow later this month.
“BalconyTV is always focusing on finding new artists and showcasing them to a worldwide audience”, says the channel’s president Jeff Clyburn. “‘Live From The Outside’ allows us to highlight the finest performances from up-and-coming musicians of all genres and share them with the world in a new medium”.
