CMU Approved
Approved: Ida Kudo
By Andy Malt | Published on Monday 10 December 2018
Ida Kudo released her eponymous debut EP in 2015, so the follow-up, ‘Gold’, which arrived last month, has been a long time coming. It has, however, been very much worth the wait.
That first EP showed great promise, with Kudo unafraid to experiment with her voice inside her pop productions. Certainly ambitious, there was nonetheless room to perfect her style. And that, it seems, is exactly what she’s been doing for the last three years.
Occasional singles during that time have shown that process in progress. However, on ‘Gold’ it is fully realised. Rich bass and deftly applied percussion underpin an impressive voice that she is now fully in control of.
