Asian Network revamps

The BBC Asian Network has announced some schedule rejigs. The recently launched Adil Ray hosted breakfast show will move into a slightly later time slot, from 7 to 10am, while mornings will go to current afternoon presenter Nikki Bedi and current morning presenter Nihal will move to lunchtimes.

There will also be a new faith-inspired show for early risers, airing between 5 and 6am, and featuring music for Muslims, Hindus, Sikhs and Christians. The revamp will also see an increase of news and discussion programming during daytime.

The Beeb’s Andy Parfitt, who oversees the Asian Network, told reporters: “This is the second stage of the strategic development for Asian Network. All stations need to keep evolving and these changes will work well with our new breakfast show”.
