Damon Albarn to record in Congo
By CMU Editorial | Published on Friday 22 July 2011
Damon Albarn and a group of producers, including XL boss Richard Russell, Dan The Automator, Kwes, Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs and Actress, have travelled to the Democratic Republic of Congo, where they hope to record an album in seven days. The project is similar to Albarn’s ‘Mali Music’ album, which saw him travel to Mali and record local musicians and sounds, piecing them together as a record, which he later performed live with some of the musicians involved. Once released, the album will be sold to raise money to aid Oxfam’s work in Congo. You can track their progress here.
