Approved: Monsters Of Folk (SNAP Of The Day)
By CMU Editorial | Published on Tuesday 8 September 2009
It’s inevitable that comparisons will be drawn between Monsters Of Folk and the original folk-rock supergroup, Travelling Wilburys, with the Monsters line-up consisting of Bright Eyes/Conor Oberst, Yim Yames of My Morning Jacket, M Ward and famed producer Mike Mogis, who handily produces the group’s material. Three tracks are up already, led by the excellent stomp of ‘Say Please’, which nurtures the talents of the entire band and sounds like, yep, a Travelling Wilbury’s track, though minus a Jeff Lynne string section. It’s woozy throwback folk-rock and, along with the other two tracks streaming, promises much for the future of this project, particularly when they reach Europe for touring in November.
