Live recording download store launches in Australia

A new online store, offering artists the ability to upload and sell live recordings straight from the mixing desk has been launched in Australia.
Owned by Sony Music Australia, BandIt.fm Live (an offshoot of music discovery and etail site BandIt.fm) opened for business yesterday, with a five track EP by Newton Faulkner, recorded at his gig at the Oxford Arts Factory in Sydney the night before.
Sony Music Australia’s GM digital and brand development Gavin Parry told Billboard: “The reality is that any recording can be uploaded and distributed via the service. It doesn’t have to be live, but that’s where we think the market is going in the future. We feel we have something here of real interest. A lot of artists no longer tied to labels will want to use this service. There’s nobody in this space”.
