Leeds-based Swim Deep satirists Hookworms’ first LP, ‘Pearl Mystic’, attracted critics’ admiring glances on its noisy release at the start of March.
And rightly so, because it’s pretty great as first LPs – or in fact any LPs – go; a deep-sea-stashed reef of oscillatory psych originals, not least the face-erasing ‘Form And Function’ and white hot wah-wah pyre ‘Away/Towards’.
Having shared a non-LP track titled ‘The Correspondent’ via Sonic Cathedral’s ‘Psych For Sore Eyes’ EP, the band have since done another one, ‘Radio Tokyo’, to be released as Too Pure’s May Singles Club single.
