Death Grips cancel dates, don’t explain why
By Aly Barchi | Published on Tuesday 6 August 2013
Noise-rap clique Death Grips have cancelled a pair of US-based live appearances, namely dates in Boston tonight and New York tomorrow.
They also failed to show at an official Lollapalooza afterparty last week, nor did they play as billed at the festival itself. Fans ‘trashed’ the stage on learning that DG had (say Lollapalooza organizers) “chosen not to arrive” at the party, which was meant to take place at the Bottom Lounge in Chicago, even dismantling Zach Hill’s drumkit.
Prior to the announcement, Consequence Of Sound notes, the stage backdrop at the Bottom Lounge was changed to show a suicide note purportedly written by a Death Grips fan, perhaps suggesting the band decided to miss the show out of respect.
