Rapper Bekah CC released her buzzy debut single, ‘No Change’, at the beginning of the year on Bone Soda – the label credited with discovering Slowthai.
Now she’s back with ‘Sigh’, featuring sharper vocals and bass like a nearby pneumatic drill, courtesy of producers Mikey Fleece and Goner.
“People are gonna do what they’re gonna do”, she says, discussing the inspiration for the track. “We’re human, we have animalistic instincts, but also hold moral expectations of behaviour. That’s what the song’s about… what’s important”.
Details of her future plans are sparse, but a collection of covers on her SoundCloud profile – featuring reworks of songs from 21 Savage to Fiona Apple – show a range not yet fully tapped in her own tracks. ‘Sigh’ is out now, listen here on Bandcamp…
