Artist News CMU Approved Gigs & Festivals Releases
Approved: Julia-Sophie
By Andy Malt | Published on Tuesday 15 June 2021
Formerly a member of Little Fish and Candy Says, Julia-Sophie Walker launched her solo project last year with the EP ‘y?’ Returning after a break from music, her new electronic sound – coupled with the most personal lyrics of her career – quickly found an audience.
Given Walker seemingly started out with no particular expectations, that bit of early success might have convinced her that she’d hit upon a formula she should stick with. But instead it buoyed her to experiment further. A second EP – ‘</3’ – arrived in April this year, taking the first release as a blueprint while making tracks longer and giving them more space in which to develop.
If these two EPs set a benchmark for the rate of development for this project, then things look nothing but positive as more releases arrive. She’s already planning a third EP, with hopes to follow that with an album
Julia-Sophie is set to headline the Windmill in Brixton on 12 Jul. You can listen to ‘CCTV’ from ‘</3’ here:
