Approved: Smolalienbaby
By Andy Malt | Published on Wednesday 14 November 2018
Previously working under the name Vivienxo – releasing two tracks in collaboration with Femme En Fourrure – singer-producer Victoria Zolotukhina is now going by the moniker Smolalienbaby. Following a few hints at the new project’s development over the last couple of years, she’s now released her debut EP, ‘Long Dreams/Sleepless Nights’.
Although you can still hear the 80s pop influences that we saw on her previous work, the Smolalienbaby sound is more laid back. Reverb-drenched vocals and a slow pace give everything a smoky atmosphere, with lyrics that come across like late night thoughts.
The EP release was followed quickly by the video for another new track, ‘Know Thyself’, which suggests she could be on prolific form at the moment. But right now, check out EP track ‘Just So Sad I Can’t See You Anymore’:
