Club Tip CMU Approved
Approved: Soundcrash warehouse party
By Paul Vig | Published on Friday 1 June 2012
Three true electronic innovators will take to the stage at this Soundcrash warehouse bash, all taking place in the new 2932 space in East London (it’s on a road called The Oval, not to be confused with the South London cricket ground and tube station of the same name).
Topping the bill will be Luke Vibert who, when he’s not busy recording as his alter egos Wagon Christ and Plug, can usually be found on the decks playing a mix of proto acid, drum n bass, techno, hip hop, electro and whatever else enters his mind. With 21 albums under his belt (check my review of his most recent Plug long player here), this man is consistently good. Expect a journey into the outer limits.
Making a rare London appearance, Manc legends 808 State will also perform a special live soundsystem set. Since penning the classics ‘Pacific State’ and ‘Cubik’, these guys’ influence can be felt right across
much of today’s electronic music scene, and their set, melding techno, house and classic electronica, should be awesome. Finishing off is Ceephax Acid Crew, with his madcap 8bit acid twist. Andy Jenkinson (brother to a certain Squarepusher) has been recording since 1997 and is famed for his storming analogue live sets.
With such a great line-up, this night should be brilliant, plus it will be great to see what Soundcrash do with the new warehouse space.
Saturday 2 Jun, 9.30pm-6am, 2932 EAST, 29-32 The Oval E2 9DY, tickets £5-18, info here.
