Approved: Tonik Ensemble
By Andy Malt | Published on Monday 2 February 2015
One of the highlights of this year’s Eurosonic (according to Chris CMU), Tonik Ensemble is the solo project (mainly) of Anton Kaldal Ágústsson. Mixing electronic and live instruments, his composition style is apparently influenced by a “mild synaesthesia”, with sounds constructed to gain the most pleasing mix of colours.
His debut album, ‘Snapshots’, is due out through Atomnation on 10 Feb, featuring the singles ‘Until We Meet Again’, ‘Landscapes’ and most recent release ‘Imprints’. The latter sees Ágústsson at his most dancefloor friendly, though the techno sound the synths on the track create still feels more sleepy shuffling than arms in the air euphoria.
