BB King died of natural causes, coroner confirms
By Chris Cooke | Published on Tuesday 14 July 2015
The Las Vegas coroner has confirmed that there is no evidence blues legend BB King was in anyway poisoned before his death back in May.
As previously reported, some of King’s children have made various allegations against the musician’s former business manager and personal assistant, LaVerne Toney and Myron Johnson respectively. A legal filing by the children focuses on claims about their father’s healthcare and financial affairs, though earlier allegations included the claim King’s death had been caused by poisoning.
Legal reps for Toney and Johnson insist that all the allegations made against their clients are “spurious and unjustified”, but two of King’s children nevertheless requested the autopsy to assess the poisoning claims. Clark County Coroner John Fudenberg confirmed yesterday that tests had now been completed and that they confirmed King’s death had been the result of Alzheimer’s disease and other physical conditions.
The coroner’s report closes the investigation into King’s death, though the legal squabble around his estate may run for some time as yet.
