BBC Sound Of 2013 longlist announced
By CMU Editorial | Published on Monday 10 December 2012
The long list is out for BBC Sound Of 2013, the Beeb’s annual poll of music pundits as to the new artists they reckon will be big news in the year to come.
Radio 1’s Huw Stephens will announce the overall winner of the poll on a special breakfast show on the station on the 4 Jan, and this morning he said he reckoned the long list was “exciting and vibrant”, with a good mixture of “strong vocalists, leftfield artists and a number of bands with their own take on modern pop”.
He added: “It’s always a varied list that surprises people, causes debate and speculation about the state of the music scene. For me, it’s an exciting time of year, where we don’t really know what the year will bring with new music, but this helps give people an indication of what might sound good”.
If you want more from Huw, you can listen to him talking through the list below, and you’ll find more information on each and the poll itself here.
And here it is, the long list, for you to digest and debate, consume and critique, dissect and dismiss, and bloody well bitch about. Good times.
