BMG announces new rock JV with Odyssey
By Chris Cooke | Published on Friday 22 March 2013
BMG has announced a new alliance with Berlin-based management and marketing group Odyssey Music Network which will see the creation of Heartwork Music, a new rock and metal focused imprint that will sign artists to BMG’s previously reported ‘masters model’ deals.
BMG will handle the release process of Heartwork artists, while Odyssey will oversee marketing and promotion, with the first releases under the new venture coming from The Dillinger Escape Plan and
German deathcore outfit We Butter The Bread With Butter.
Confirming the new alliance, Björn Meyer, Label Manager at Odyssey Music Network, told CMU: “BMG’s modern approach to master rights in partnership with artists is a natural fit with the Odyssey Music Network concept”.
While BMG’s Dominique Kulling added: “The BMG approach to masters is based on working with best-in-class partners. Odyssey Music Network is an ideal partner in the rock, alternative and metal fields”.
