BMG UK signs top One Direction songwriter Wayne Hector
By Aly Barchi | Published on Friday 28 February 2014
Songwriter/producer Wayne Hector, creator of 1D’s ‘Best Song Ever’, has done an exclusive publishing deal with BMG Chrysalis UK. It’s applicable all over the world too. Fancy that.
The versatile hitmaker, who prior to his BMG contract was signed to Warner/Chappell, has written (or co-written) in excess of 30 number one singles, and his hits include Nicki Minaj’s ‘Starships’, Westlife’s ‘Flying Without Wings’, Dappy’s ironic smash ‘Good Intentions’, and in the past year, tracks by John Newman, Shane Filan and pop’s most popular Jameses; Mssrs Blunt and Arthur.
Quite the CV, isn’t it? BMG Chrysalis UK’s EVP Alexi Cory Smith sure thinks so, and says this of having Wayne on side: “Wayne Hector stands in the very first rank of pop writers in the world today, and we are extremely pleased to have the opportunity to work with him”.
BMG’s Senior Creative Director Kate Sweetsur adds: “Wayne’s track record speaks for itself, and we are very excited about working with him across BMG’s international network and particularly in the US”.
And Wayne Hector’s manager Jackie Davidson adds: “We are enthusiastic and looking forward to integrating with the BMG family, both here in the UK and abroad and am sure it will help enhance and build upon what has been achieved to date”.
