Burke wins X Factor
By CMU Editorial | Published on Monday 15 December 2008
So, while some weird voting complication meant the BBC’s ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ was thrown into another furore this weekend (because none of the three semi-finalists was actually voted off, making the whole stage of the competition pretty redundant), over on ITV1 the great British public managed to pick an overall winner for this year’s ‘X Factor’.
And that was R&B singer Alexandra Burke, who beat finalist boy band JLS to win this year’s competition, a Sony recording contract and the right to murder Leonard Cohen’s ‘Hallelujah’ in public.
Said track is already available for digital download and will be available on CD in shops (the 14 shops still selling CDs) on Wednesday. A Christmas number one presumably beckons. Burke was mentored during the show by first time judge Cheryl Cole.
