Houses Of Parliament

The UK government-led work on the economics of music streaming – launched following Parliament’s big inquiry into how streaming works and how music-makers get paid – continues to go through the motions, with an update on all that work published just last week.

Also last month, the Council Of Music Makers – which brings together organisations representing artists, songwriters, musicians, producers and managers – set out its five key priorities for changing the way the music streaming business operates, seeking to inform where that work goes next.

CMU has been tracking this whole process, from the campaigns that led to the parliamentary inquiry, the inquiry itself, and all the projects that have followed which are aiming to ensure that streaming is more equitable for the people who actually make the music.

Don’t forget, you can access all of that coverage, plus get links to the various official reports that have been published, and relevant guides and resources from CMU Insights and CMU:DIY, via this timeline in the CMU Library.
