CMU:DIY: Elevate Seminars at The Great Escape
By CMU Editorial | Published on Friday 26 April 2019
The Great Escape has launched a brand new professional development programme for early-career music industry people called Elevate. As a result of this new scheme, which is funded by the National Lottery through Arts Council England, 30 delegates will get a subsidised, curated and enhanced delegate experience, with personally crafted schedules and access to exclusive networking and Q&A events.
As part of the Elevate programme, CMU:DIY will also present a series of seminars on the Saturday of TGE alongside the O2 Presents DIY Academy day of educational panels. These are basically an opportunity for Elevate participants – and all TGE delegates and wristband holders – to access some of CMU’s acclaimed training courses for free.
Recognising how busy everyone is at TGE, each seminar is just 45 minutes. But those 45 minutes will be packed with easy to digest information and a load of practical tips. Topics covered across the day include: making money from gigs, streaming and direct-to-fan, plus the top five social media tricks, top five reasons you’re not getting paid, and the top five music industry fuck ups and how to avoid them.
All six seminars will take place in the all-new delegate hub at TGE, ie Jury’s Inn Waterfront, on Saturday 11 May. And unlike the rest of the TGE Conference, the Saturday sessions are open to anyone with a Great Escape ticket, including festival wristband holders.
