Other notable announcements and developments today…

• Record industry collecting society PPL has announced Mary Beer as its new Director of Marketing & PR, and the promotion of Kate Reilly to the newly created role of Director of People and Organisational Development. “Helping”, said Beer. “Inimitable”, added Reilly.

• The Alan Lomax Foundation is collecting pre-orders for a new six-disc vinyl boxset of some of the folklorist’s finest field recordings, amongst other things. It’s being released to mark what would have been his 100th birthday. All money raised will go to the Association For Cultural Equity. Throw your money at them here.

• Damon Albarn said last year that a new Gorillaz album would be coming our way in 2016. Now it’s looking like that date might have been brought forward, as the Blur man’s partner in the project Jamie Hewlett has started sharing new artwork on Instagram.

• Richard X has done a remix of Susanne Sundfør’s latest single, ‘Delirious’. Her new album is now just two weeks away. Exciting times.

• Angel Haze has released the first single from her second album, which will be the follow-up to the brilliant if slightly (almost completely) ridiculous ‘Dirty Gold’. The track is called ‘Candles’, and you can hear it here.

• The third Villagers album will be called ‘Darling Arithmetic’ and will be out on 13 Apr. So there. And here’s a track from it.

• Paul Oakenfold has been doing that Perfecto Records thing he does for 25 years now. What would you do to mark such an occasion? Yes, well I think that’s why no one ever consults you about things like this. He’s releasing a compilation, called ‘P25’, which will be out on 20 Mar. Details here.

• Public Service Broadcasting have released a new track called ‘The Other Side’, which is taken from their new album, ‘The Race For Space’. Th’album is out on 23 Feb, and they’ll be touring sort of April/May time. Dates here.

• I’ll tell you something you might not know, Lola Colt are releasing a new single called ‘Heartbreaker’ on 2 Mar. You can listen to it here. There’s also a tour on the cards. Details of that here.

• The Replacements reunited back in 2012, but have only seen fit to play their first UK show now. It’ll be their first gig over her for 23 years when it takes place at The Roundhouse on 2 Jun. Tickets will go on sale on Friday, here.

• The CMU approved Rökkurró are touring the UK right at this moment. You already missed a show in Bristol last night, you idiot. Catch them at The Tin Music & Arts Centre in Coventry tonight or at the Sebright Arms in London tomorrow. There’s also a secret industry-only show on Thursday, but that’s a secret.

• Psych rock types Toy will headline Club Attitude this year, the annual event staged by Attitude Is Everything to raise awareness of issues faced by deaf and disabled music fans, and positive steps venues and festivals can take to help. The show happens on 24 Mar at Islington Assembly Hall. Tickets here.

• Mumford & Sons have been added as headliners for this year’s Reading and Leeds festivals. Royal Blood, Bastille, Deadmau5, David Rodigan and Shy FX are also new on the bill. “Secured”, says festival boss Mr Benn.

• If you like your Music Industry Awards to be international, then you’re in luck. Voting has opened for the second ever International Music Industry Awards, which take place during the Musexpo conference in LA on 29 Apr. See the shortlists and vote here.
