Cover story missing from January GQ

By | Published on Monday 15 December 2008

Well, not completely. This isn’t really music news, but it’s an amusing media story nonetheless. A handful of copies of the latest edition of GQ have one section printed twice, and another section missing completely.

Unfortunately the missing 32 pages include the interview and photoshoot with cover star Jessica Biel. Some reports suggest a big portion of the January edition of the magazine are affected by the cock up, though a spokesman for publisher Conde Nast says it’s literally just a few copies.

Said statement reads: “The printer used by GQ confirmed that the omission and subsequent duplication of a section of the January issue was caused by human error in the bindery. Further investigation has revealed that a maximum of 10 such ‘rogue’ copies could have been affected in this way”.

“Whilst it in no way excuses their responsibility for quality control this is obviously a tiny number of affected issues for a magazine with a circulation of 130,008 (ABC Jan-Jun 2008). St Ives have confirmed in writing today that they will ensure it never happens again”.

Oh, the especially amusing gag related to this story seems to have been omitted.
