Creation doc gets DVD release
By CMU Editorial | Published on Friday 18 February 2011
The rather fine Creation Records documentary ‘Upside Down’, which we saw at In The City last year, is set for a DVD release via Revolver Entertainment on 9 May. Directed by Danny O’Connor, it includes interviews with most of the key artists and behind-the-scenes players – main man Alan McGee among them – who were involved in the rise, peak and fall of the iconic former British indie label.
And while Noel Gallagher and Bobby Gillespie might still have overly exaggerated opinions of their own importance with regards the history of British music, they’re both entertaining in their respective voxpops. And whatever you think of McGee, Creation Records itself was incredibly influential, and if nothing else, its founder’s strong personality ensures its story is definitely worth telling.
