D’Angelo cancels shows citing “medical emergency”

R&B star D’Angelo, real name Michael Archer, has cancelled several live appearances, his reps say, as he battles a “medical emergency”. The singer’s missed show in Minneapolis last night was the latest in a series of recent cancellations which began last week, when he withdrew from a PA at Brooklyn’s Williamsburg Park on the same day he was meant to play.
Official confirmation via the Minneapolis show’s promoter Live Nation says D’Angelo “expresses his sincere regret due to this unfortunate circumstance”, whilst Archer’s agent adds that, health-wise, “It’s serious, but he should be OK”.
D’Angelo, who having worked with The Roots’ Questlove at the start of the year on the TBA follow-on to his last LP, 2000’s ‘Voodoo’, is still to release any tracks off it, is billed to appear at San Francisco’s Outside Lands festival this weekend.
