Don’t try to contact Ed Sheeran, he is not here

Ed Sheeran is gone. Do not try to contact Ed Sheeran. There will be no more Ed Sheeran. For approximately nine months. That’s it. He played the final date of his ‘x’ world tour at Auckland Stadium in New Zealand on Saturday, and now he’s off to look at the world with his eyes.

“Hello all”, he said via a statement posted to Instagram. “I’m taking a break from my phone, emails and all social media for a while. I’ve had such an amazing ride over the last five years, but I find myself seeing the world through a screen and not my eyes, so I’m taking this opportunity of me not having to be anywhere or do anything to travel the world and to see everything I missed”.

“To my family and friends, if you love me you will understand me buggering off for a bit”, he added, slightly threateningly. “To my fans, the third album is on its way and is the best thing I’ve made so far. See you all next autumn and thank you for being amazing”.

So that’s it. He’s gone. Don’t try to get in touch with Ed, because he’s let the battery drain from his phone one last time. Set yourself a reminder to tell him everything next September. Write a list maybe. Here’s one I’ve started off for you that you can cut out and keep:

1. Bye!
2. Merry Christmas!
3. Happy birthday! (Note: check when Ed’s birthday is)
4. Happy new year!
5. Did you leave the oven on?
6. What was the name of that guy? You know, the one with the hat?
7. It’s alright, I remembered.
8. Blimey, hot isn’t it!
9. Fuck this rain.
10. Adele says nine months isn’t enough.
