earthtone9 to release best of
By CMU Editorial | Published on Wednesday 19 May 2010
100% brilliant metallers earthtone9, who split in 2002, have announced that they will release a new compilation of sixteen of their very finest songs in July. The compilation will be available as a free download on the band’s website, and on limited edition CD for £5.99.
Frontman Karl Middleton told Rock Sound: “Most of our releases are hard to find now, so we thought that a compilation would be a cool reminder of what we were about. The tunes that we’ve chosen are the ones that either still stand up or have an extra special place in our hearts… or both. I’m sure that some people will disagree with our choices, and that’s cool, but we wrote the songs so we know best”.
Bassist Dave Anderson added: “This is not a rebirth. We just got old and wise enough to appreciate that we did something pretty good together, and it was worth celebrating. We’re not reforming as such. More reconnecting as friends, and leaving ourselves open to the occasional show to remind people that we fucking ruled once”.
There are rumours that the band will perform at a handful of festival dates this summer, though there’s no confirmation of that yet. While you wait to find out, and for the release of the compilation, you can download one free track, ‘Evil Crawling I’, right now from www.earthtone9.co.uk. Do it.
