Edinburgh Talk to close
By CMU Editorial | Published on Thursday 18 December 2008
UTV have announced they will close down Edinburgh-based talk station Talk 107 after they failed to find a buyer.
The media firm had already indicated they’d shut the station and hand back its FM licence to OfCom if a buyer couldn’t be found. There had been talk of a management buyout but that seemingly faltered.
Confirming the station would go, UTV Radio boss Scott Taunton said this: “It is disappointing that after an exhaustive search we have not been able to find a buyer for Talk 107. We explored a number of options, including a proposed management buyout, but none proved to be viable. So unfortunately we have been left with no alternative but to close the station”.
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank the staff of Talk 107 for their dedication and professionalism during these uncertain times. They have continued to produce entertaining, challenging and informative radio and I wish them all success in their future endeavours”.
