Festival Line-Up Update: Benicassim, Sonisphere, British Summer Time and more

So, Barclaycard’s pop-picnic-in-the-park British Summer Time has revealed a tasty new spread of artists playing at it. One is family-friendly Welsh sex belter Tom Jones, who will headline the event’s final day, aka 13 Jul.

Mr Jones sonorously intones: “I love playing in Hyde Park, it’s such a beautiful place and so many of the greats have played there. There is a real sense of musical history and a fantastic atmosphere that comes with playing in the middle of a great London park on a wonderful summer evening”.

In contrast, and on a noisier note, this year’s Prodigy/Maiden/Metallica-capped Sonisphere bill has gained a lorry-load of additional acts, not least Atari Teenage Riot, Canterbury, Trash Talk, Bo Ningen and alt-metal heads Therapy?, who as a special treat will play their 1995 LP ‘Infernal Love’, from its first track to its last, at the festival.

Therapy? leader Andy Cairns says, “Delighted to have been asked back to Sonisphere UK to perform ‘Infernal Love’ in its entirety. Our ‘Troublegum’ show there back in 2010 was a special night indeed and we are very much looking forward to playing our 1995 fan favourite at the UK’s premiere rock festival. See you all on the Bohemia stage!”
