The pre-Terra Firma boss of EMI, Eric Nicoli, has launched a new entertainment business at the Cannes Film Festival that will produce, fund and distribute projects from across the entertainment space, though, interestingly, not recorded music.

London-based Wentworth Media & Arts, which is backed by private equity, is looking to get involved in film, TV, social media, theatre, publishing, education and live entertainment projects. Initial ventures include co-producing a new rom com with Filmagine, and backing a TV documentary series called ‘Time Of Our Lives’ about major concept albums. Nicoli is working with William Lewis, John Stanley and Dean Goldberg on the new business.

The one-time EMI Group boss said of his new venture: “We believe content, in all forms, is increasing in value around the world. The strategically vetted approach to financing new films and properties is appealing to us. We’re aligning high quality content with funding and business execution in a way that can maximise the exploitation and commercialisation of that content for the content owner, distributor, investor and WMA alike”.
