Gang Of Four sign up to Pledge

The latest big name artist to go the fan-funding route to raise investment for a new album is Gang Of Four, who have signed up to the previously reported Pledge Music platform.

Among the special packages being offered to those fans who stump up some cash are 500 signed limited edition ‘Ultimate Content Cans’ (the new album will be called ‘Content’) which will include the album on CD, a book of artwork by Jon King and Andy Gill, a booklet of drawings depicting the band’s emotions, phials of blood and a scratch and sniff booklet.

Other even more exclusive packages are offered, including access to a pledgers-only Q&A evening and a very limited edition cassette tape which will feature a never-before-released recording of the band’s first ever gig in Leeds. Basically, if you’re a Gang Of Four fan you’re going to struggle to keep your money in your wallet.

Confirming Gang Of Four would be using the Pledge platform to raise investment from fans, the fan-funding service’s MD Malcolm Dunbar told CMU: “We’re delighted to announce our most ambitious and far reaching Pledge to date in association with Gang Of Four. They are one of the legendary UK bands and the campaign we’ve put together with them is a great opportunity for fans to participate in the release of their new album. Additionally the band are fusing out of their Pledge into a traditional self-release campaign allowing us to offer a comprehensive release plan across the album cycle using our marketing consultancy service”.
