Rounding up the latest gig news…

So Lorde has rallied a bit following her ‘I am too ill and tired to play’-style declaration earlier this week (which led to the postponement of her entire Australian tour), and confirmed a one-off GB show at London’s Brixton Academy on 6 Jun.

Why is she risking her health again? I have no idea. But still the fact, and the date, remain. As does this photo of Lorde lying in bed, looking quite ill actually. And as does the fact of the date on which tickets to the show will go on general sale: tomorrow. All that is written.

As is Flume’s mix of Lorde’s new single ‘Tennis Court’, which is more streaming than written really, but, whatever. Here it is:

Now it’s over to Austra, who are, like, so on trend with Lorde’s ‘one-off London show’ thing right now. The band, who are still taking laps of honour in honour of 2013’s ‘Olympia’ LP, have announced a night at Oval Space on 10 Jul, at which Blue Hawaii and Maxixe will also play live. Buy tickets to it now.

And oh, look who’s at it now. It’s Scots rock clan Twin Atlantic, who are playing a ‘London fan gig’, in London, at the Boston Arms aka Tufnell Park Dome on 14 May. The show will go to boost promo for the band’s forthcoming LP, ‘Great Divide’, which is released on 18 Aug. Find info on the intimate fan gig, ticket links for which are live NOW NOW NOW, via this link.

Next, going a different way as always, it’s St Vincent (pictured), who has shaken up her May tour of the UK, cancelling three dates because of timing issues re her appearance on the imminent season finale of ‘Saturday Night Live’. So whilst you might doubt her priorities a bit in doing that, you’ll be pleased to know she’s already set new dates for the cancelled ones, and added additional shows in Cambridge, Gateshead and Liverpool. The tour will now take place in August, starting on 19 Aug at the Junction in Cambridge.

“Previously purchased tickets will be honoured, of course”, swears Saint V in this FB post containing all the necessary listings and details.

In new news re the relentlessly excellent Thee Oh Sees, John Dywer and his lo-fi enterprise will bring their very new new LP, ‘Drop’, to one of those one-off London shows on 17 Aug, at the Ace Hotel. In London.

Acting as a ‘Frabjous Sunday’ after-party to ATP’s first ever Jabberwocky fest, which will sit at the ExCel Centre on 15-16 Aug, and gives billing to James Blake, Neutral Milk Hotel, Darkside, Caribou and so on, the show is free to go-to for all Jabberwocky ticket-holders.

All the info on the main festival, and a series of additional after parties featuring the likes of Kode9, Patten, and a Fuck Buttons DJ set, is available via the Jabberwocky site.

Let’s end this thing right with the video for ‘Drop’ song ‘The Lens’:
