Hilco confirms HMV’s return to original Oxford Street store

Hilco has confirmed rumours that HMV is to return to its original store on Oxford Street in London, having given up the lease on its larger flagship store earlier this year to Sports Direct.
HMV occupied the space at 363 Oxford Street from July 1921 until April 2000, when it moved up the road to number 150, and the building has a blue plaque on it to prove it. Which means that the new store will have a sign on the front saying that it isn’t there anymore, but never mind.
The retailer’s Chairman Paul McGowan said in a statement: “We are thrilled to be returning to HMV to its original home at 363 Oxford Street and this reflects HMV’s renewed focus on going back to its roots and getting the basics right, providing the deepest range of entertainment products”.
