In The City to move to Piccadilly

This year’s In The City convention will take place from 13-15 Oct, and will move away from its traditional home at Manchester’s Midland Hotel up the road to the city’s Piccadilly Square, with events in four hotels based in that part of town.

Co-founder Yvette Livesey told CMU: “We are thrilled to once again hold In The City here in Manchester. After much discussion and enthusiastic support from Manchester City Council our move to the Piccadilly area will enable us to accommodate the significant number of delegates who want to experience the best of the up and coming musical artists on the scene today”.

Following the departure of various management team members late last year, and a review of In The City’s operations earlier this year, the convention also has a new operations chief. The new COO is one Philip Coen, who brings experience from business roles outside the music industry, and who is presumably charged with the task of securing the commercial future of ITC, which operates in an increasingly crowded market place, and services an industry where major players are looking to cut their financial commitments to industry events.

Confirming Coen’s appointment, Livesey continued: “Having Philip join In The City’s executive team is exciting as we expand the brand on multiple platforms. We are fortunate to have someone with his experience, dedication and depth of knowledge in such a key role”.
