James Bay named BRITs Critics’ Choice
By Chris Cooke | Published on Thursday 4 December 2014
James Bay was “pretty speechless” at being declared the Critics’ Choice newbie of the year by the BRITs. Though not so speechless that he was unable to give a paragraph-long quote. That’s the spirit, Jimbo!
“After all the years I’ve spent watching the BRITs and even after this year, watching my fanbase grow so much, I never thought I’d actually be getting an award myself”, he told reporters. “And what a huge honour to be following the incredible artists who’ve won before! I’m really chuffed, thank you to everyone who has supported me”.
Don’t mention it. It’s been a big fat pleasure. Who’s James Bay again? Well, whoever he is, he’ll get his Habitat-style BRIT gong on 15 Jan, just as the nominations for all the other BRIT 2015 awards are announced.
Industry and media types in the good old BRITs Academy were invited to start voting for most of the industry-voted categories yesterday. We see Dapper Laughs is up for Best British Breakthrough on account of him having had a Top 40 chart placing with his classic little number ‘Proper Moist’. So that’s fun.
