Kobalt signs Goat
By Aly Barchi | Published on Friday 13 June 2014
Scandinavian psych-folk mystics Goat have signed an international deal with Kobalt Music Publishing, valid for the band’s past and forthcoming releases. And sync rights! The Sweden-based band, who just joined Sub Pop in the US on the label side, are to follow their very first LP circa 2012, ‘World Music’, with another this coming autumn.
They headline this year’s Liverpool Psych Fest on 27 Sep, thereafter playing live dates at Glasgow’s SWG3 (28 Sep), Newcastle’s Northumbria Uni (29 Sep), the Brighton Concorde (1 Oct), Bristol’s Trinity Centre (2 Oct), and the London Roundhouse finally on 3 Oct. So now you know.
And chanting as one in reaction to the deal, Goat said: “Music is spirituality, spirituality is togetherness, togetherness is love, love is music”.
Meanwhile, taking the traditional tack with his little speech, Kobalt’s Johan Ekelund added: “Goat are the most original and adventurous band to ever emerge from the cold outskirts of Korpilombolo. We are dazzled that they have trusted us to be their partner in music publishing”.
