Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry studio destroyed by fire
By Andy Malt | Published on Monday 7 December 2015
Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry has seen his Secret Laboratory studio in Switzerland gutted by fire. The blaze was started by a candle left burning overnight, he told fans in a Facebook post last week.
“Something very very sad happened”, he wrote. “I forgot to out a candle and my whole secret laboratory burned out. My whole life collections, arts, my magic hats, my magic boots, all my crazy show outfits and costumes – king, pope, general, magician – all my electronics and studio equipment and my magic mic, books, musik, CDs… Everything gone!”
“I am so sad and my wife is so mad”, he added.
As previously reported, Perry will headline a Soundcrash show at Electric Brixton on 12 Mar next year. It already looked like a pretty amazing show, but helping the man rebuild his studio seems like another good incentive to buy tickets.
