Eddy Says: Listen up, Losers

Losers

It’s about time I updated you on what’s occurring Losers-wise. I get so many questions about us on Facebook that it’s impossible to answer everyone individually. If you want to know what’s going on, keep your eyes peeled for updates here in the Remix Update. Like this one.

Our first proper single will be a track called ‘Flush’, which features vocals from Riz MC and Envy. Riz, you may know from his sterling work on City Rockers and his playing the lead role in the film ‘Shifty’, and Envy is the best young female MC out there for my money, who spits in broad a Mancunian accent. You may have already heard the track on last Friday’s show.

It’s coming out via Distiller Records on 5 Apr, with some hot remixes by Dan Le Sac, South Central, SkisM and Sukh Knight. And just wait till you see the video. It’s nothing short of stunning. Really, it’s properly mindblowing, in an Edwardian Gothic, Terry Gilliam sort of way. Tom and I look at each other sometimes and shake our heads in disbelief that something so utterly amazing has been created for something we are involved in. Watch this space – I’m hoping to have a link to give you in next week’s Update.

We still don’t know what’s happening with the album. It’s been ready for so long now, but Distiller want to see what happens with ‘Flush’. Plus, I think they are committed to quite a few albums this year, so they’re hesitant, I feel. But there are others sniffing; Losers management are meeting one of my favourite labels this week, so fingers crossed. If nothing works out, then I will start my own label to get it out there.

Live, we have expanded, and are really finding our feet. We have a drummer now, Camilla, and retain Fuzz-E, our visuals dude. I’m playing all the live bass lines now and Tom is playing more live guitar, so the tracks have kinda taken on their own live sound, which is cool, the way a real band should be.

We crossed a line a few weeks ago, at a gig at The Oakford in Reading. It was the first time we ever saw people jumping up and down and singing along to our songs (well, ‘No Man Is An Island’, anyway – the power of radio, thank you John Kennedy!). A bunch of lovely people had come up from London to see the gig, and lots of locals had spilled out to check us play – thanks to one and all. Tom put it right up there with his best show with Cooper Temple Clause, and I’ve never seen the like, so we were all chuffed to smithereens. We just need more gigs now, so please bear us in mind if you’re booking club nights/tours etc.

‘No Man Is An Island’ seems to have gone down really well. As have the remixes, which I’m seeing crop up in random DJ mixes. To keep the wolf from the door until ‘Flush’ comes out, here is an exclusive remix of the track for you. It’s by Tom (in his Rhysmix guise) and was absent from the promo release, so it’s unavailable anywhere else. Download it here in full fat WAV format, in case you want to play it out: www.sendspace.com/file/2u2gjf

Thanks for the kind words and messages of support on the Losers project. It’s nice to know that in a time when the album, as an art form, is being touted as dead, we have come up with a proper album and that it all seems very much alive.

Much love,
eddy X
