The NME has announced Luke Lewis as NME.com’s new editor with immediate effect. Lewis was, until yesterday, the site’s deputy editor, a role he took up in 2008 having previously worked at Kerrang! and Q.

Publishing Director Paul Cheal told CMU: “Amongst some extremely strong candidates for this position, Luke stands out as the right man for the job. Quality journalism, round the clock reporting and expert opinion pieces are crucial to NME.com remaining the first port of call for music fans and Luke is the ideal candidate to ensure NME.com continues to deliver to them”.

Lewis added: “I’m incredibly honoured to now be editor of the world’s best music site, and I can’t wait to get started on the next stage of the site’s development – making NME.com the most lively, engaged and impassioned music community on the web”.
