McCready’s death confirmed as suicide
By Chris Cooke | Published on Thursday 21 February 2013
Police in Arkansas have said that a preliminary autopsy has confirmed that country singer Mindy McCready’s death last weekend was the result of suicide.
Investigators say that McCready shot dead her late boyfriend’s dog before turning the gun on herself on Sunday at her home in Heber Springs. Offices founder her body and that of the dog on the porch where her longtime partner David Wilson died last month. He is also believed to have taken his own life.
In a statement yesterday, the Cleburne County sheriff said that McCready died by suicide from a single gunshot to the head.
Having risen to fame in the country music world in the 1990s, and enjoyed commercial success with her first two albums, McCready became better known for her troubled personal life in later years.
