Midlake talk Antiphon
By Aly Barchi | Published on Thursday 8 August 2013
Midlake have elaborated on plans to release a new LP titled ‘Antiphon’, this in the wake of one-time singer Tim Smith’s exit late last year.
Written in ‘six harmonious months’ by the band’s new incarnation, it is, says now-singer/guitarist Eric Pulido: “The most honest representation of the band as a whole, as opposed to one person’s vision that we were trying to facilitate”.
He adds: “We wanted to embrace the psychedelia, style and nuance you might hear in bands from yesteryear while also being aware of music influences present now. The result was less folk and more rock. Less nostalgic and more progressive. Now the sky’s the limit”.
That it is, Eric… that it is. Download the ‘Antiphon’ title track via the Midlake site, and/or play it now via SoundCloud:
