Music Supported Here: Belleruche
By CMU Editorial | Published on Thursday 22 April 2010
For the next three weeks the CMU Daily will be celebrating the previously reported Music Supported Here campaign, and profiling some of the artists who have backed the initiative.
At the heart of the MSH project is a gallery of ‘music’ logos that incorporate the copyright ‘C’ which have been drawn by each participating artist. We will be featuring a different music logo in the CMU Daily each day, and will invite the artist who created it to introduce themselves and explain why they are supporting the campaign. Along the way we’ll meet some brand new artists, some more established grass roots acts and some pop superstars.
Today’s logo was created by trio Belleruche. Before they tell us why they’re supporting MSH, here’s their artist blurb: “Like Sarah Vaughan, Charlie Christian and Cut Chemist stuck in a dusty second hand record store with rum and a sampler, Belleruche make turntable soul music. From their early days making it all up in London pubs, through to Montreux Jazz festival, Glastonbury and Sydney Opera House, their tight and innovative live show, using turntables, samplers, guitars and a microphone has impressed audiences worldwide. They combine heartfelt melodies with twisted scratched drums, snap sharp snares with chopped vintage basslines, and broken blues guitars with hook filled songs”.
And here’s why they are supporting MSH: “So we can keep doing this”.
Look out for another ‘music logo’ and MSH supporting band tomorrow.
