Music Supported Here: Gorman
By CMU Editorial | Published on Monday 19 April 2010
For the next three weeks the CMU Daily will be celebrating the previously reported Music Supported Here campaign, and profiling some of the artists who have backed the initiative.
At the heart of the MSH project is a gallery of ‘music’ logos that incorporate the copyright ‘C’ which have been drawn by each participating artist. We will be featuring a different music logo in the CMU Daily each day, and will invite the artist who created it to introduce themselves and explain why they are supporting the campaign. Along the way we’ll meet some brand new artists, some more established grass roots acts and some pop superstars.
Today’s logo was created by a new Glasgow-based band called Gorman. Before they tell us why they’re supporting MSH, here’s their band blurb: “Often likened to the work of Tom McRae, Radiohead or Jeff Buckley, the music of Gorman can grip you by throat one minute, and move you to tears the next. Whether a solo voice with only his piano for company, or using the fragile ferocity of the band, Gorman’s music will fire you up, break you down and take you to dark, beautiful places”.
And here’s why they are supporting MSH: “We support the campaign because we think that music has a VALUE: It should be up to the creators to choose how their music is used, and it should be simple for fans to show that they respect that right”.
Look out for another ‘music logo’ and MSH supporting band tomorrow.
