Music Supported Here: Idle Words

By | Published on Tuesday 27 April 2010

CMU Daily is currently celebrating the previously reported Music Supported Here campaign, and profiling some of the artists who have backed the initiative.

At the heart of the MSH project is a gallery of ‘music’ logos that incorporate the copyright ‘C’ which have been drawn by each participating artist. We will be featuring a different music logo in the CMU Daily each day, and will invite the artist who created it to introduce themselves and explain why they are supporting the campaign. Along the way we’ll meet some brand new artists, some more established grass roots acts and some pop superstars.

Today’s logo was created by Berkshire-based jazz duo Idle Words. Before they tell us why they’re supporting MSH, here’s their artist blurb: “Our mission is to continue music where it left off in the 1940s and to introduce new Jazz standards to be remembered for centuries to come! As well as playing at Jazz clubs in Berkshire and London; we also play high-society weddings and garden parties. We believe our music would be enjoyed by fans of: Billie Holiday, Louis Armstrong, and Madeline Payroux”.

And here’s why they are supporting MSH: “We support the musicsupportedhere effort as we believe if music isn’t paid for correctly (ie according to the band’s wishes); many non-signed musicians will not be able to financially support their musical career and we (as music fans) will end up loosing out as there won’t be the amazing variety of music available as there is today”.

Look out for another ‘music logo’ and MSH supporting band tomorrow.
